Step1: Warm-up

Let’s start

(1)    Free talks. T: Today I go to school by bike/motorbike. Usually I go to school by bike/motorbike. What about you? Do you go by bike? Or by bus? Do you go on foot? Or by car?

(2)    Lead-in. T: There are many ways to go somewhere. Look at these pictures. Do you know what they are?

Look at the picture of Let’s start and ask and answer.

Step2: Preview

(1)    Preview the frequency Adverbs: always, usually, often, sometime, never. With reference to the Unit One Book Six.

(2)    Let’s chant. Listen-imitate-chant.

Step3: Presentation

(1)    Show a toy bike and say: How do I go to school? I go to school by bike. Write the phrase: by bike on the board. Ask some of the SS: What about you? How do you go to school? Write the Sentences on the board: How do you go to school? I go to school by bike.

(2)    Look at the cards and make phrases: by plane, by ship, on foot, by bike, by bus, by train, by subway. Then make sentences: I go to …

(3)    Play a fast reaction game. T: by bike. S: I go to school by bike.

(4)    Listen to the tape and repeat.

(5)    Read and spell the words.

(1)    T: How do I go to school, do you know? Ask me, please! Encourage more students to ask teacher the question: How do you go to school? Show the pictures of a bike, a bus and a taxi and their prices. T: Usually I go to school by bike, because it’s good exercise. Sometimes I go by bus, because it’s cheap. It costs 1 yuan. Sometimes I go by taxi, because it’s too fast. It costs 10 yuan.

(2)    Listen to the tape of the dialogue and answer the question: How does Sarah go to school? Listen-repeat-read.

(3)    Use some phrases to replace on foot, by bike and say together. Then make dialogues.

A: How do you go to school?          

B: Usually I go by bus.

A: Can you go by bike?              

B: Yes, I can, but it’s too far. Sometimes I go by taxi, but it’s expensive. What about you?

A: I go to school on foot, because my home is near.

(4)    Group work: Four Ss in a group and ask each questions: How do you go to school? Encourage Ss to explain reasons: My home is near. It’s fast. …

(2)    Now let’s read the dialogue and find out how Sarah goes to the park. Can you draw the route on your paper? Ss read in pairs and the teacher help them to draw the route.

(3)    The teacher demonstrates the route drew by the Ss and describe Sarah’s route to the park: “First, Sarah can go to Zhang Peng’s home by bike. Next, Sarah and Zhang Peng go to the bus stop on foot. Then they can go to the park by bus. Write the words: first, next, then on the board and read.

(4)    Ss read the dialogue and finish the exercise.

(5)    Listen-repeat-read.

(1)    The teacher points to the light: I like the lights because I can see things clearly at night. Can we see lights in different colours in our city? Yes, Neon light, traffic lights …

(2)    Draw three lights in red, yellow, green. T: We have red, yellow, green lights. We call them traffic lights. Write the phrase: traffic lights on the board. T: What do they mean, do you know? Encourage the Ss to tell about them. T: When do we stop/wait/go? Help the Ss to say: We stop at red light. We wait at yellow light. We go at green light.

(3)    Show the traffic lights and do the actions in different colours. It is a green light. I can go. Go-go-go. It is a yellow light. I must wait. Wait-wait-wait! I can go in a moment. The light is red, can I go? No, no, no! It’s dangerous! I must stop. Stop-stop-stop.

(4)    Write the words “stop, wait, go” besides their the colours and help the Ss to make differences between.

(5)    Let’s play. Look at the lights and do the actions according to the coulours.

(6)    What does ‘traffic rules’ mean? Write the phrase “traffic rule” on the board and explain it. Learn the sentences: Stop at a red light. Wait at a yellow light. Go at a green light.

Step1: Warm-up

(1)    Listen and do the actions: If you go by car, by bike or on foot, you must watch the traffic lights and know the traffic rule. Red! Yellow! Green!

(2)    Listen and say the colours: wait-yellow, go-green, stop-red.

Step2: Preview

(1)    T: This is my left hand. Show me your left hand! Then, show me your right hand. Make sure that the students can make difference between left and right, then do the actions: turn left, turn right.

Step3: Presentation

(1) 教師站在課前畫好的分道線的右側(cè),往前走,邊走邊說:“Now I’m walking on the right side of the road. I know the traffic rules. Do you think so?”教師重復(fù)該句并板書:“Walk on the right side of the road.”教師再沿路的左側(cè)往前走,請一名學(xué)生描述:“You are walking on the left side of the road.” 教師板書:“Walk on the left side of the road.” 組織學(xué)生討論:Which is right and which is wrong?

(2)    In different countries, traffic lights are the same, but the traffic rules are different. Open the book and turn to page 9. What’s the difference between the two pictures? Which picture is about China and the US? Which one is about England and Australia? Help the Ss to find the answer: In China and the US, drivers drive on the right side. But in England and Australia, drivers drive on the left side.
